ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಅಚ್ಯುತ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ನೀನಾಸಂ ರಂಗ ಕಲಾವಿದನಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಕಾಸರವಳ್ಳಿ 2000 ದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೃಹಭಂಗ ಎಂಬ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಿರುತೆರೆಯ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಯ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಧಾನವಾದ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಇವರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ನಟನಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು. ಮುಂದೆ ಅಚ್ಯುತ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಒಬ್ಬ ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ನಟನಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ಹಲವಾರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದರು. ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ ಫಿಲಂ ಫೇರ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪೋಷಕ ನಟ, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ನಟ ಎರಡೂ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದುವರೆಗೂ ಐವತ್ತಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿರುವ ಅಚ್ಯುತ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ನಮಗಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಾಣ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಓದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
